“Possibly all members of the congregation do not realise how many-sided are the activities of our church with their resulting financial commitments; many may be surprised to learn that there are no less than fifty-six separate ledger accounts, all of which have to be carefully checked and submitted in due course to the Annual audit.”
Our Annual Meeting this year paid tribute to Inigo Woolf’s 40 years’ service as our treasurer – one wonders how many ledgers he would have gone through were it not for computers! I imagine he would have been as glad as the 1929 treasurer, Mr Geoffrey Sankey, when it was announced that “members of the congregation can materially assist him by making out all their cheques to “The Hampstead Parish Church” and not to the Churchwardens”!
