Congratulations to St James’ Piccadilly on becoming the first church in the Diocese of London’s to win the Eco Church Gold Award. St James is the fourth in the country to win this award which it gained by meeting the Gold standard in five Eco categories:
Worship and Teaching – awareness of our interdependence and care for the environment embedded in liturgy and teaching.
Buildings – St James’ is now a net carbon neutral site
Land – the church provides a vital inner-city habitat for wildlife<
Community and Global – Outreach and campaigning for the fourth strand in Eco church. Action on food, waste, transport and use of money locally translated into campaigning on global issues and support for initiative such as Toilet Twinning.
