Mission Action Plan – Refugees –Solar Panels – New lighting
The PCC’s latest meeting took place on 12 November.
Our new Mission Action Plan for the next five years was approved by the PCC at its September meeting, and everyone should by now have seen the “Vision, Mission, Strategy” leaflets summarising the plan’s objectives. At the latest meeting we moved on to discuss the implementation of the plan, including possible changes to our internal structures and processes to identify priorities and monitor progress towards our goal of “building an inclusive community of Christian love, faith, witness and action”.
Some of the actions that we have set as priorities are already moving forward. In particular we received an update on how the Syrian refugee family sponsored by our church (with the support of other Hampstead churches) are settling in after their arrival in London in September, and heard about the new discussion group led by Jan and Ayla for young people in Year 10 and upwards, who are meeting every other Sunday evening. We also received a progress report on the application to Camden Council for planning permission to place solar panels on a small section of the church roof, as part of our contribution to the London Diocese’s drive to reduce the church’s carbon footprint.
The PCC also gave its agreement to go ahead with improvements to the lighting in the church, involving the refurbishment of the pendant fittings in the central nave and the addition of spotlights in the galleries. The work is expected to start in January and be completed by Easter.
The PCC’s next meeting will be on Monday 11 February 2019.
