Religious scepticism
The creation of the first god coincided with the creation of the first person who didn’t believe he (or she) was for real. And the strength of belief has always varied according to what one is being asked to believe in. As the American comedian George Carlin put it “Tell people there’s an invisible man in the sky who created the universe and the vast majority will believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure.”
