Love your children
From Parish Pump
February is the month of love, and who better to love than those who depend on you? Yet the number of children suffering from anxiety has risen by 60 per cent in the past two years, and Childline has reported that growing distress among children and teenagers is leading to thousands of children having panic attacks.
Now Peter Wanless, of the NSPCC, warns that ‘Anxiety is a growing problem in young people’s lives today, and it is not going away. We all need to help children and teenagers find ways to cope with their anxious feelings and not dismiss them as over-reaction.’ Meanwhile, the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has warned that heavy use of social media is fuelling despair, inadequacy and levels of self-harm in the young.
