Sunday, 5th November is the launch date for our annual Christmas Hamper Appeal, in support of AgeUK’s Good Neighbours Scheme. This will be the fourth year that we will prepare baskets containing Traidcraft and other food items, tissues, a pen and notebook, face flannel and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste and a Christmas card. They will be wrapped in cellophane with satin ribbon.
AgeUK has identified some forty frail, elderly or lonely people in NW3 who risk being overlooked this coming festive season. Many have chronic health problems and struggle to keep warm in winter.
If you would like to support this scheme your contribution can sponsor a whole hamper (£20), half a hamper (£10) or a quarter hamper (£5). Last year the parish received messages of warm gratitude from some of the recipients and it would be great to have another successful appeal again this year.
We plan to pack the baskets on Wednesday, 29th November, from 9 a.m., in the Crypt Room. This is a fun event and you are welcome to join us!
Gloves
This year members of the congregation have been knitting fingerless gloves to add to the baskets (Judy East has prepared a very straightforward pattern). However we need several more pairs! Are you a knitter who could help?
