I expect we’ve all experienced those moments when we find ourselves in a hectic bustle of activity, so busy we simply sigh that we ‘don’t know whether we’re coming or going.’ We could have been rushing ‘back and forth’ or even ‘hither and thither,’ maybe pondering life’s manifold ‘ups and downs.’
In complete contrast, we could on the other hand be relaxing by a picturesque coast on a calm day and be soothed by the ‘ebb and flow’ of the tide, or the ‘rise and fall’ of a stunning landscape.
This just goes to show how ‘far and wide’ the possibilities are for interpreting through prose, poetry, drama and song, the subject of
comings & goings!
So why not escape the ’hustle and bustle’ of everyday life by simply coming to this month’s Literary Hour! Just sit back and relax and, before going, you may be both entertained and moved by a selection of readings from as far back as the 13th century through to the present time. There’s even an odd song or two relating to this endlessly varied subject.
