London Chamber Choir Colla Voce Singers,
conducted by Aidan Coburn
presents their first concert of the 2017 season.
The Song of Songs, known also as the Song of Solomon, contains some of the most provocative and poetic text in the bible, providing unparalleled inspiration to composers over the centuries. Traditionally used to celebrate The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Song of Songs is drawn on by the Colla Voce Singers on the evening of the feast, as they seek to explore composers’ responses to these most sensuous and erotic of writings. Framed with settings of the Mass by Byrd and Vaughan-Williams, this concert takes the audience on a journey though the ages, from medieval to modern, with the eternal wisdom and enlightenment of Solomon as our guide.
