Samaritan’s Purse Christmas shoe boxes      Helen Evans

We will be donating Christmas shoe boxes to the Samaritan’s Purse appeal again this year. Our church contributed nearly 40 boxes last year and we’d love to beat that tally. It’s a fun and thought-provoking activity to do with children in particular. You need to get hold of a shoebox, cover it with Christmassy wrapping paper and fill it with inexpensive toys, crayons, paper, toiletries etc for children. You can pick different age ranges and whether you want to give a box to a boy or a girl.

The boxes will need to be dropped off in church by early November (we are waiting for confirmation of the precise date). They are then shipped to a wide range of countries, including in Africa, the middle East (which is where our boxes from church went last year) and parts of the former USSR.

Look out for leaflets and posters at the back of church. The leaflets have plenty of suggestions of suitable items for the boxes. If you’d like more information please email me [email protected]
