HPC is taking part in Open Garden Squares Weekend on 18th and 19th June
There is lots to look forward to in London in June – the Queen’s official birthday, the start of Wimbledon AND on the weekend of 18th and 19th June Open Garden Squares Weekend, when over 200 gardens, squares and other green spaces across London will be open to the public.
As many will know from last month’s magazine this year our two burial grounds will be part of this popular, London-wide event, together with other green spaces in Hampstead.
The Main and Additional Burial Grounds are important historical and wildlife conservation areas, as well as being accessible, peaceful, green spaces in the middle of Hampstead. Taking part in Open Garden Squares Weekend is a chance to highlight these two magical spaces. It is also a chance to raise money for burial ground maintenance and to recruit volunteers to the Gardening Team.
It will be a fun event. Over the Open Garden Squares Weekend (except on the Sunday morning) we will have children’s activities (Chris Money and Marilyn Brooks have created a super exploration pack for children), guided tours and refreshments.
We hope as many parishioners as possible will be able to take part. If you can bake a cake or are able to volunteer to help serve refreshments, act as stewards or help on the welcome desk we would be extremely grateful and would love to hear from you. If you can help in any way please contact Judy East [email protected] or Sheena Ginnings [email protected]
