Open Garden Squares Weekend

Saturday from 10-5 / Sunday from 2-5
All over London, indeed all over the country, people will be visiting places they’ve never seen before. Some of them are only open for the weekend – this doesn’t apply to us, of course, because the churchyard and additional burial ground are always open (and are visited) but we don’t usually advertise ourselves widely so we’re expecting a much larger than usual number of visitors.  There are several gardens open in NW3 and if you’ve ever participated in one of these events you’ll probably, like me, have picked a cluster of sites within easy reach of each other to make a nice day out.

Of course the gardening volunteers are working extra hard to make it all tidy – well as tidy as the churchyard ever can be, we’re not attempting anything other than its own delightful wilderness effect – and a catering team are preparing to serve tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits throughout Saturday and on Sunday afternoon.  There’ll also be children’s activities and guided tours taking in some of the better-known or obscure but interesting graves.

Do you take the churchyard for granted?
Is it just something you walk through on your way to church?
Why not come and have a proper look?
