Many thanks to those of you who have already left small parcels of postcards to benefit The Sudan Church Association in Inigo Woolf’s in-tray (Parish Office). I have had another news letter from the Association.
Sudan and South Sudan are ‘amongst the most dangerous and unstable places in the world.’ Christian Aid is recognised as a valuable partner for the Sudan Link. There is some cooperation with the Episcopal church, US government agencies and US based NGOs. Bishop Samuel of Nzara is leading the Joint Peace and Reconciliation Commission.
With the newsletter came an Update on the postcard collections. I learned in that that they can sell coins.
‘Virtually all undamaged postcards have some value to collectors, should they be old or new, used or unused, coloured, sepia or black and white, large or small, British or Foreign. But, please never attempt to remove the stamp as this makes the postcard worthless.’
There was a message that the fine for insufficient postage is now £3.00. That is why we are only giving the address to those of you who want to go to the Post Office to check the weight and thickness.
If you want more information about the postcard collection and sales, please email. [email protected] . Yes, there are two Ts in that Whittaker.
The Sudan Church Association has no market for ordinary stamps, with just the ‘Queen’s head’. I send stamps to someone else, so please put them in a separate envelope if possible.
If you know anyone in the Midlands or anywhere else in the country where postcard collectors have gone into nursing homes or left for other reasons, Leonard Whittaker would be happy to hear from them or you.
Thank you once again.
