Usually we celebrate Big Brew Day during Fairtrade Fortnight, which this year runs from 29th February – 13th March. Unfortunately this is also means that we are in Lent and many of the treats that Traidcraft sells do not reinforce Lenten abstinence, but this year March 6th is Mothering Sunday so cakes and chocolate can be on the menu!
This year the focus of Big Brew will be on helping vulnerable farmers to thrive and support their families and communities. Did you know that smallholder farmers are responsible for over 70% of the world’s food but make up 50% of the world’s hungry people? Many small scale farmers are marginalised, unable to invest in educations, training or equipment to help them grow and thrive. Any donations we can send to Traidcraft will help to empower more people to escape poverty and give them a chance to really fulfil their potential.
Please come down to the Crypt Room after the 10.30 service on March 6th and support the Traidcraft campaign by:
Buying from the Traidcraft stall
Buying cakes or biscuits from the cake stall, many made from Fairtrade ingredients
Registering your choice on the competition poster (there will be prizes!)
Watching the DVD “Let it grow”
Giving generously to the Traidcraft campaign
