The HPC Christmas Hamper Scheme
This time last year the Social Action and Pastoral Care working parties joined forces with AgeUK Camden to support their Good Neighbour Scheme. With your financial help we were able to prepare thirty hampers, filled with Traidcraft goodies and some useful items like a pen, notebook and flannel. Each was delivered by an AgeUK volunteer to an elderly person living in NW3, many of whom suffer loneliness, isolation and physical handicap, and who AgeUK thought may not see anyone at Christmas .
Warm responses were reported from the recipients were reported back to us via the volunteers:
Just wanted you to know I gave the basket to R., and she was very grateful – her exact words were: “Oh, I will have a good Christmas after all”.
Another volunteer told us:
M. was delighted! She is going to share the contents with her neighbour.
If you would like to support this scheme again this year, you can sponsor a whole hamper (£20) – or with someone else you could sponsor half a hamper (£10) or a quarter hamper (£5).
It would be wonderful if all thirty of these elderly people can receive a hamper from us in time for Christmas 2015.
You can see some of the photos from the appeal last year on the notice board at the bottom of the Lady Chapel steps.
This year’s appeal will open in church on Sunday, 15th November.
