Charity News

Congratulations to C4WS Homeless Project on winning the Everyday Impact Award for Long Term Enterprises in the 2013 Directory of Social Change Awards.
Other charity news includes an article about Bliss and a sobering report on the increased numbers using food banks.  I suppose the good news hidden in there is that people are giving generously to make sure they have enough to hand out but it’s a sad reflection on society that the need is so great.  Here at St John’s we support two – one at CARIS Haringey and one more local, the Trussell Trust Foodbank in Chalk Farm.   If you haven’t come across our collections they happen on the first Sunday of each month.

The team of drivers who deliver to these foodbanks add their thank-yous….
…….to everyone who contributed to the Chalk Farm and CARIS Haringey Foodbanks
…..and for the gifts of toys, books and puzzles for the CARIS children’s Christmas party.  The children had a really wonderful time, with a visit from Father Christmas, and the presents that were distributed brought smiles all round.
…..to our Children’s groups who help support CARIS’ aim to “work to make a difference to homeless families in Haringey”
…..to the Children’s corner at the Christmas Market which also made a small profit which went to CARIS Haringey this year.

Annual Reports for CARIS Haringey and C4WS are available on the table at the back of the church.

As you can see in the following report from The Trussell Trust the need for foodbanks is showing no signs of decreasing ……….
