The candle was lit by Father Stephen, with a gorgeous picture of Barney hugging a wombat on the table along with a ‘tree’ bedecked with cards from the junior choir children thanking “Aunty Margaret”.
On Thursday 27th September, we had a celebration of the official launch of the Barney Rogers Memorial fund. This wonderful gift enables children in the junior choir to be given one to one tuition by a professional teacher. The scheme started at Easter and the recital given tonight was a tribute to the incredible energy and commitment of our choir master, David Moore, and the benefit of further instruction for the choristers.
It was a pleasure to have so many soloist and sisters singing together. The charming autumnal piece ‘Linden Lea’ by Vaughan Williams along with the uplifting and appropriate finale piece ‘Thank you for the music’ ….and we all do!
Thank you, Margaret, for your gift and involvement in the on-going musical teaching and community that the junior choir creates. Hopefully, many more members of the general congregation will come to the junior choir evensongs that are held on the first Thursday of the month, as notified in the parish magazine.
Our spirits lifted , the celebration was continued at the Vicarage with delicious food and much appreciated help from Elizabeth Beesley and Chris Weatherhead (FOM )along with our new Junior Choir parent, Amanda Michelucci., ensuring the continuation of a most happy and memorable evening.
