Stewardship Month Stewardship Month Stephen Tucker

As usual the month of October will see us concentrating on our church’s stewardship requirements. Letters have been sent out to everyone on our electoral roll by our Stewardship Secretary, which explain our needs and ways of responding to them. We are in danger of living beyond our means and the task of balancing the books gets harder and harder for our treasurer each year. Unless we are able to make a significant difference to our income this year, next year’s budgeting will confront us with some painful decisions if we are to maintain our staffing levels and all that we do in the present and develop our activities in such a way as to strengthen our community, maintain our building and reach out to the wider community.

When we were seeking to raise money for our crypt development we held a very successful gift day. We are a planning a similar such day on October 16th when I shall be in church from 10.30am to 5.00pm. There will be charts available to explain our needs, refreshment and perhaps a little entertainment. I shall be very grateful to receive one off donations, new or revived stewardship pledges in sealed envelopes directed to the Stewardship Secretary.  See you there!
