Christmas and pets don’t always go well together – so it may be worthwhile keeping an eye on them amidst all the festivities. Otherwise you may end up also entertaining the local firemen over the holiday period. A recent survey of fire services across Britain has found that in the past two years alone, more than 10,700 animals have been rescued at a cost of £8.5million.
They range from the dog entangled in a wine rack, to the budgie stuck behind the fridge. Or the hamster escaped under the bathtub. Or the boa constrictor wedged behind a radiator. Or the cat which got stuck in the washing machine (that needed five firemen to free it). Or the puppy trapped inside a reclining chair. So this Christmas, with guests coming and going and new pets arriving, do be careful! Or at least buy in more mince pies and keep a space on the driveway clear for the fire engine…
My true love gave to me… but now it’s stuck!
