The Angola, London and Mozambique Association (ALMA)

On 12 July 1998 a Covenant was signed between the Dioceses of London, Mozambique and Angola to form the Angola, London and Mozambique Association. The formation of a link was the result of relationships formed over many years. The intention is that our relationship with our partners should be in depth allowing each to learn from one another.
ALMA provides:

* ALMA Reports, discussion papers and talks
* Prayer Requests
* Background information on Mozambique and Angola
* The work of the ALMA link in London is supervised by the ALMA Steering Group. Members of the Group come from across the Diocese.

A message from the Bishop of Kensington, Chair of ALMA:
“After years of faithful and wise service to the ALMA link with the Church in Mozambique and Angola, Hugh Watkins retired last month as the ALMA Link Officer. Many people in the Diocese will be grateful for the advice that Hugh has given in relation to school and parish links as well as visits and all that needs to be done to obtain visas! We are very grateful for all that he has done.

“Hugh has been replaced as Link Officer by Peter Southwood who is a Reader in the Kensal Rise Team Ministry in the Willesden Area. Peter comes with a strong interest in the work of ALMA and is already getting a firm hold on the reins.

“Another Reader from the Willesden Area, Sheenagh Burrell, has taken on the role of ALMA Communications Officer. Sheenagh is already a member of the ALMA Task Group and has certainly hit the ground running!
“Also, we are thrilled that the next Archdeacon of Northolt, Rachel Treweek, will be joining the group as the member of the Senior Staff carrying the portfolio for World Church and Inter-Faith. Rachel was part of a group that visited the dioceses of Lebombo and Nyassa along with me in 2002 and her parish in Bethnal Green has a parish link in Lebombo. Again, Rachel joins us with enthusiasm and experience for the ALMA link.
“For your information, these are the other members of the Task Group and the areas for which they take responsibility:

“Sue Parks: Visits and Exchanges; Simon Sheldon: Fundraising; Chuli Scarfe: Mission Agency Liaison; Mike Clark: Advocacy; Chris Brice: Diocesan Global Development Group; Andrew Wilson: Parish and School Twinning; Sheenagh Burrell and Ann Peterkin: Parish Representatives Liaison.”
