Readings:  Romans 13: 1- 7; Matthew 8: 23 – end

It took me a little while to work out what the connection might be between our epistle and Gospel this morning.  But I believe the theme which emerges is that of power. Paul writes about how the Roman Christians ought to relate to the civil authorities because the power vested in them ultimately comes from God.  Jesus demonstrates His power – the power of God over nature and over the spiritual realm –  as He calms the storm and heals two men possessed by demons.
