This grave or memorial is in the Additional Burial Ground
One of the graveyard’s few obelisks – in this case about 11 feet high. It is topped by a cross which, as Burgess suggests, is to disguise its pagan character. The obelisk has no relevance to Christianity, but became popular from 1878 when Cleopatra’s Needle was set up on th embankment
