Portugal merchant of Fenchurch Street, with his brother Daniel (qv); monument in the church ‘raised by those who derived benefit in their youth from his disinterested efforts for their instruction and improvement’. He also erected Hampstead’s first drinking fountain. His wife Eliza [died 1901] kept a logbook to the age of 90 which has been preserved in the Sharpe Collection at the Local History Library
