Join Christian Aid on Sunday 17 May 2009 for a sponsored walk around the City of London.
How long is the walk and where does it go?
There is one circular walk of approximately ten kilometres (six miles). There are also some short cuts that reduce the walk to about six kilometres (three miles).
The walk takes you around the City of London, visiting some historic churches many of which were built by Sir Christopher Wren. The walk also passes world-famous sights such as the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral, as well as some lesser known back streets and buildings.
When and where does the walk start?
There are two registration points which will be open from 1.00pm. The walk is circular, so it doesn’t matter which of the registration points you start at. However, if you would like to attend the 20 minute prewalk service you will need to start at St Mary-le-Bow.
Is the walk suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs?
Yes. There are some stairs on the walks but alternative routes will be suggested. Unfortunately, a number of the churches on the walk are not easily accessible by wheelchairs or buggies and we will do our best to indicate this on the route.
What is there for children to do on the walk?
As well as seeing some of the fascinating and historic sights that you will walk past, children will have a quiz that they can complete on the route, and there will be face-painting, giant games and balloon modellers.
