The Parish Church of St John-at-Hampstead

1/3/2007

David Lund

Those who attended the church in the 60s and 70s will remember the vibrant contribution which David made to the local community. David presented entertainments in the Moreland Hall and elsewhere, in support of the Friends of the Music and other events such as Ruth Black-Hawkins’ Christmas parties for the OAPs. His legendary concerts at UCS raised thousands of pounds for various charities. David was a superb pianist and he played professionally on the London jazz scene for many years. A CD of David’s playing was released recently to great critical acclaim, including a moving tribute by Humphrey Lyttleton on his BBC Radio 2 programme. If anybody would like a copy of the CD which costs £10 including postage and packing, please contact Peter Lund 020 7681 0422.

Unfortunately David is suffering from the advanced stages of Parkinson’s disease and is now resident in the Magnolia Court Nursing Home, close to Golders Hill Park. David enjoys regular outings, trips home and above all visits from friends. Despite his very cruel illness David has retained a remarkable zest for life and is very popular with the staff and other residents. Please remember him in your prayers.
