Living Book Club for February and March      Sheena Ginnings

Dear All

A belated Happy New Year.  Thinking about the year ahead it is hard to believe May 2016 will be the second anniversary of the Living Book Club. All of our Living Books are members of  Hampstead Parish Church, or have close connections to members of the church. Since we started we have had an amazing range of interesting, thoughtful and stimulating speakers. We start off 2016 with two more super speakers.  I attach details of the programme for February and March.

7th February – 2016 is the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and I am very pleased that the eminent Shakespearean scholar Professor Sir Brian Vickers is coming to give us his personal story of ‘Getting to know Shakespeare’.  Brian’s list of publications is impressively long and I am sure he will have much to tell us.

In anticipation I thought you might find this link to an article about one piece of his work interesting http://content.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1930971,00.html

6th March – we will be in the middle of Lent and I am very pleased that Louise Reynolds has agreed to come back to tell us about her new book on ‘The Changi Cross’ and to talk about how prisoners in the Far East during WW2 kept their faith despite appalling conditions.  Louise has recently been to Singapore and will also talk about the ongoing importance of the Changi Cross and how it continues to be a powerful symbol of faith.

Everyone is welcome so please feel free to invite friends and family or others who might be interested in the subjects talked about to come along

I look forward to seeing you at the first meeting in February.
