Our link with Holy Cross Theological College in Rangoon started in 2000 when we visited Burma with a small group from St. Stephen’s Church, Rochester Row. Another journey was made in November last year.
Since September 2000 we have had a series of Tea Parties to raise money for student amenities, with much kind support from Hampstead Parish Church friends. This year will be our fourth afternoon , booked in for Saturday September 16th … a date close to Holy Cross Day on the 14th.
The College Principal the Rev.Simon Be Bin Htu has an interesting request….
” I would like to send our third year students to the Agricultural Training in Taungoo Diocese as internship training in the summer , about one and a half months in 2007 , because after theological training they will go back to their native areas. They can help the parishioners with their agricultural knowledge. I think it is suitable for them in their future ministry.
I think the total cost would be £500 for 17 students.”
With a Bring and Buy Stall and a Raffle we will hope to go some way towards raising this amount. As before, contributions and donations may be Gift-Aided through the auspices of The Church of Myanmar ( Burma ) Association.
We’ll be AT HOME to any Burma friends visiting London, and to supporters from previous years ,at 34.Eton Avenue from 3-5.30pm and all are most welcome to join us.
