Very many thanks to everyone who helped to make the weekend such a success. Despite the unseasonal weather forecast we were fortunate with the weather, most of the time. We made £4,700 for the charities supported by the parish.
It was wonderful seeing so many fascinating crafts and discovering people’s unknown skills as well as watching some of them people at work.
It was good to see the contributions from the children. We hope that they enjoyed the mixture of children’s activities in the choir vestry as well as the story telling in the Lady Chapel, which I heard was very popular.
There was sustenance to keep everyone going in the Food Hall from all the drinks and meals through to the cake stall with its wonderful produce.
We were very pleased to have the guided tours of the churchyard, the Additional Burial Ground and also of the church building. The raffle, tombola, plants and souvenir stalls also brought in money. And wasn’t it wonderful to have the opportunity of a reviving massage!
On Saturday evening we were well entertained by the Junior Choir and the Friends of the Drama in the presentation of Make Way for Merrie May, for which we owe enormous thanks to Barbara Alden for all her hard work.
We were very grateful to Bishop Richard Harries for his visit at the conclusion of our weekend.
There will be an Events meeting on Sunday, 2 June after the Parish
Eucharist, at which it would be very useful to have your feedback from the weekend – if you can’t make this meeting, please let me have your comments either by email or by leaving them for me in the vestry. We will also be planning the party to welcome our new curate, Diana Young, on Sunday, 30th June.
I do hope that you met some members of the congregation you didn’t know before the weekend and that you enjoyed yourselves.
