Numerous articles in the press and on TV highlight the problems of social isolation in society today. In many ways we are even more connected than say fifty years ago, but increasingly not through physical human contact. Whether we are financially secure or hard up, as a society we are increasingly ‘time poor’.
The church community is one way in which we can engage with a wide variety of people, so that apart from the act of worship there is also an opportunity to chat and relax after a service.
It may be surprising to know that Women’s Bible Study has been fulfilling that role for several years and that, rather than being a serious and solemn examination of biblical texts, we discuss a wide variety of issues, concerns and subjects, though in a faith based way. Accordingly, we are changing our name from the autumn of 2016 – to Women’s Discussion Group which we hope will encourage a wider participation. Time out to chat and confer can be such a blessing!
The Women’s Bible Study/Women’s Discussion group is led by Revd Diana Young
