Poet, famous for being the first cookery writer for ordinary families. Her methodical approach to testing and recording recipes inspired Isabella Beeton and Delia Smith. Born in Suffolk she was initially a school teacher, although her health was delicate. She moved to Hampstead in the 1850s, living in Keats grove.
