Came with her family to Bolton House, Windmill Hill in 1791. Her Plays of the Passion in 1798 were a sensational success, and she was praised and visited by Byron, Scott and other literary lions. The most famous woman dramatist of her day, she died aged 88 at Bolton House, which now bears a plaque from the Royal Society of Arts.
