Stopford Augustus BROOKE

Irish minister of Proprietory chapel, Bloomsbury, 1876-95. A celebrated preacher, in 1867 he became chaplain to Queen Victoria, but he seceded from the Anglican church in 1880. He often preached at Rosslyn Hill chapel. Most successful among his books was his Primer of English Literature, 1876.
