Widow of Sir James Watson Kt., late one of the Judges of the Supreme Court of Judicature at Bengal’. Sir James was the son of a dissenting pastor in Southwark; he became ordained, but forsook the cloth for the law. A protégé of Lord Mansfield, he became MP for Bridport and was knighted on becoming Chief Justice of India in 1794.
